Boys, Boys, and More Boys

There is a HUGE need in China!  Hundreds of orphanages are filled with children waiting for families.  However, they are not all little girls.  A majority of the children that wait are boys.  A recent snapshot of the shared list (a list of all kiddos with paperwork ready for adoption that are not sitting on agency lists) was filled with 75% boys!  That's over 1650 boys!!  This number does not include the hundreds that are waiting on agency lists.

Why?  What causes this imbalance?  There are many different theories and multiple contributing factors.  However, a main problem is the lack of families wanting to adopt a boy.  Most families choose to wait for a little girl.  Girls tend to have waiting lists of families wanting to view their files, especially if they are younger.  I see boys waiting that have the same needs as girls that are snatched up within a few days of their files being prepared.

I completely understand the desire to adopt these sweet girls.  Please know that ALL children need families!  I love our girls and cannot imagine life without them!  However, our boys equally share my heart.  They are helpful, funny, and loving.  When people meet our family they are always commenting on the impact our two littlest guys had on them.  Ryan and Greyson are FULL of personality!

Please take a moment and pray that more families will be open to bringing home a son!  Take a look at these precious boys and pray that their families find them soon!!  (Just look at some of these minor needs!)  Click on each boy's name to see a post about them with more pics! :)
