4 Years Ago We Experienced Our First Gotcha Day

It was Sunday (September 19, 2010) afternoon in Nanjing, China.  We were so incredibly nervous.  We were about to meet the little girl that we had only known from paperwork and a few pictures that were taken when she was about 9 months old.  Kaitlyn was now almost 3 years old.

We entered the Civil Affairs building, where children sat waiting for their parents.  We didn't see any familiar looking faces and parents were quickly united with their kiddos.  Our traveling buddies found their beautiful little girl.  We continued to wait and the nerves only increased.  Then, her nanny walked through the door.  We immediately recognized that round beautiful face and gorgeous brown eyes!  Her nanny even smiled, recognizing us from the photo book we had sent.  Kaitlyn let me feed her Puffs, touch her head and back, and even change her diaper (while her nanny watched from close by).

The nanny slipped away when Kaitlyn wasn't looking.  Then, it happened... She noticed...

Yup, this girl had a set of lungs!!  That lollipop you see, ended up in my hair.  I was kicked, hit, and bit.  The Civil Affairs office was being remodeled and her screams echoed throughout the building for the next 30 minutes.  When we finally left the building she settled in, gave up, and relaxed.  By the end of the day she was interacting and laughing with us.  She still had plenty of tantrums, but we had lots of amazing moments and precious memories!  She loved to play, interact, and mimic us.

When we came home, she quickly figured out how to hold her own around her brothers.

We discovered the amazing transformations that happen when God knits your family together.  The pieces just fit, as if they were an entire puzzle designed to be together from the beginning.

This girl continues to amaze us!  She is kind, loving, funny, and even-tempered.  We are so in love with her and she opened up a world to us that forever changed our hearts!  We love you Kaitlyn Qingyan Anderson!!
