Fourth Day in Guangzhou - Kristyn is Officially an Anderson!!

Today Kristyn became an official Anderson!!

We started out with breakfast this morning.  Kristyn was all smiles with so many choices!  She wanted everything!  This girl loves food, evidenced by the little belly she has on her. :)  This is the first kiddo I’ll have to thin out a little bit.  Then, we set out for Civil Affairs again to be interviewed by two staff members.  Their job is to make sure that we understand her needs and are willing to adopt and provide for her.  We were interviewed by Wenxi.  She was Meilynn’s guide in 2011 and interviewed us for Addi and Ry in 2013.  She was all smiles and glad to see us again, we took our picture with her yesterday.  Much to Mark’s horror, she ended with “Maybe I will see you next time also”!  :)  Well, you don’t have to ask me twice, I gotta start looking for another Guangdong sweetie!  Mark said “No Way!!”  Hee hee, I knew I liked that woman!  The building was extremely hot and it was a lot of sitting and waiting.  Poor kids were getting very hot and squirmy.  Kristyn needed a bathroom and I was relieved to find one Western style toilet (still managed to have her fall in and I pulled the roll of tp off the wall).  Later, she wanted to use another one upstairs.  They were both squattys.  She looked at them and looked at me and motioned never mind. :-O I think she figured I wouldn’t be able to handle that if I was struggling with the Western.  We finally managed to have our second interview.  He was quite difficult to understand.  It was hard to communicate, and I think he was trying to figure out why in the world we wanted 2 more kiddos! ;)  Then, we were done! Kristyn is officially Kristyn WeiMei Anderson!!

She is such a smart little cookie!  She can count to at least 60 in English!  She has a mole on her arm and she was pointing to some on my neck.  I said, “It’s like this one” pointing to her arm.  She pointed and said “those not the same” and pointed at one on her belly and said “this the same” in English!  She knows more than I think we realize.  She continues talking to us in Chinese, hoping we will talk back.  I love her voice and laugh, it is very distinctive.

We were dropped off at the Grocery Store on the way back.  We bought a stroller for Greyson.  He is quite slow and this will make it easier on us.  Kristyn is very quick and agile, but tires pretty easily and I think she would have liked one too.  She’s just too big, he is a tiny thing!  She didn’t want to walk and started giving me a little attitude.  She definitely has it in her, but keeps it under wraps most of the time.  She was super silly on the way to and from Civil Affairs this morning also.  We bought snacks for the apartment also.  We laughed at what it must look like (8 candy bars and 2 packs of cookies), crazy treat loving Americans!

Brayden went with me to exchange some money (we haven’t had to exchange since that insane excursion to the Chinese Bank).  Luckily, it is very easy here, done downstairs at the front desk.  I am starting to stockpile as we will need to pay the driver for Thursday.  We are visiting Kristyn’s orphanage!!  We can’t wait!  We weren’t given the option to see anything but the lobby at Greyson’s.  We are hoping to love on some children there.  We will have to wait and see.  The kiddos are super excited!  After that, Brayden helped me get lunch at McDonalds (Jayson reminded us not to use any back alleys). :)  When we had finished eating we headed to the pool.  This is a favorite activity since it is HOT here (close to 90 and HUMID)!  It felt so good!  It was Kristyn’s first swimming experience.  She laughed the whole time!  She loved it!!

After a little nap for some of them, we ventured out to TrustMart.  We decided to attempt to find some stuff for lunches to cut down on the eating out.  We bought noodles, bread, peanut butter, jelly, ketchup, potato chips, plates, cups, rice milk, and more.  We also picked up two shopping bags.  They had to wonder when we checked out.  We packed our groceries into the newly purchased bags and went next door to KFC.  They always get a panicked look when I ask for more than 2 chicken nuggets.  So, when I asked for 7 large popcorn chickens, they went into hysterics.  Two more people came up to the cash register, yelling back to the kitchen, and they kept asking me if I wanted to wait 10 minutes.  I said, "No problem" and went back to join my family with 6 kiddos in the front window.  It is actually our favorite past time watching people stare at us.  Their expressions are priceless.  Lots came in to get a better look, you watch them count (I now easily count to 6 in Chinese).  We weren't sure if they would bring us the food, or use us as a ploy to bring in more customers.  Finally, we had our big 'ole bag of food (4 large fries also).  The stroller purchased earlier that day doubled as a grocery cart and Greyson was happy to hold the box of rice milk.

The kiddos sat down at the table and ate.  I made a peanut butter sandwich for Jayson, he was thrilled to have a taste of home!  Then, we had our treats from earlier.  The kiddos were pretty wired and Kristyn was cracking us (and herself) up!  She and Kaitlyn decided to go on a posing spree.  So enjoy the pics! :)

We get Kristyn’s passport tomorrow, visit her orphanage on Thursday, and begin our touring here on Friday.  This time goes so fast!  I will miss China, but am excited to get home with these two and back to Addi and Ry!

  1. I bet your arms feel good to be so full! She looks like an angel- how do you manage to find the cutest, funniest kids in China? I hope they let you take pictures at the orphanage- we never got to see Quinn's because we hadn't gotten permission ahead of time. On a side note, we are reviewing a file of a CLCP girl who is from Guandong province- I noticed your comment about Wenxi and it made me smile :-)
